The current focus of the Giulia Foundation is on the Heart-and-Soul program, which targets children's most fundamental needs, in the Washington DC area. Eventually, we will offer other programs favoring social and financial integration, also in low-income countries.
Our current focus
Heart-and-soul (offering strength)
The Heart-and-Soul program aims to support children’s psycho-emotional development through artistic expression.
The program brings volunteers to work with vulnerable children on a regular basis, with a focus on arts and crafts, drama, and music. For now, the project is based in Washington DC. Volunteers visit the shelters and centers where the children reside. Learn more!
Plans for the future
Other initiatives
HAND-IN-HAnd (offering inspiration)
Vulnerable children often live in isolation—in worlds very different from those they eventually enter in school, or when pursuing a career. Children often lack the opportunity to build the social skills, or set their eyes on the goals, that can steer them to greater stability, and fulfilment.
The “Hand-in-Hand” program will encourage high-school students and/or their families to establish a special relationship with a vulnerable child (or a few children). The aim is to allow children to leave their usual surroundings to enjoy a home-cooked meal, an afternoon at the park, a special activity, or simply a chat or help with homework, on a regular basis.
grow-a-skill (offering opportunities)
Vulnerable children, especially in lower income countries, often lack skills to succeed and be recognized in the professional world. The schooling they receive can be scarse, and lacks necessary support at home.
Our hope is to establish partnerships with local professionals, and professional organizations, to train vulnerable teens with skills in demand. The Giulia Foundation would support these partnerships financially, but also accredit and monitor these programs.

mentoring
Our hope is to eventually interest vulnerable children with whom we have interacted, and who have grown older, to work with younger children through the Giulia Foundation’s various programs. As much as we can help, and strive to understand the needs and backgrounds of vulnerable children, it is ultimately their peers who can best relate, and offer a role model.
international work
The Giulia Foundation aims to eventually extend its activities to low-income countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, where vulnerable children often face acute hardships, and very few opportunities.
The Giulia Foundation would initially partner with selected local organizations that have a strong presence in the field, an impeccable track record of helping children, and shared values.
In a first instance, The Giulia Foundation would be involved in training and recruiting local staff to design and offer programs of the Foundation, starting with the “Hear-and-Soul” program, and extending to the “Hand-in-Hand,” and “Skills Training” programs.
Book projects
The Giulia Foundation is involved in various book projects intended to help children transform traumas, and find courage, stability, and the desire to help and inspire others. More information will be shared when these projects come to fruition.
